How to Claim Your Business on Apple Maps Connect
At the moment, Apple has over 32% of the UK mobile phone market and can claim over 50% of the tablet market. Every Apple device has their Maps application installed as standard, and usage has been continually increasing over the last couple of years.
After launching iOS 8 and OS X Yosemite, Apple launched their new service called “Apple Maps Connect”, a service that allows users to add their small business listings to a directory – a directory that lives inside Apple Maps.
As of this week, business owners in the UK can now put their business contact details on Apple Maps by using the new Connect service. The process of getting your business listed on Apple Maps only takes about 5 minutes, but you do need to have an Apple ID to login to the portal.
Click on the business you would like to claim or choose “Add New Business” if it’s not. As with a Google listing, you need to enter your basic business information, such as the name, address and phone number, and let Apple know you are open for business.
Maps Connect is free and your listing will appear in Apple Maps on both desktops and mobiles. Business verification happens in real time and users will receive a phone call with a code while creating the listing on the site.
Once your business has been verified, you need to check that Apple has marked the correct location for your business, and drag and drop the pin if it hasn’t. Choose a business category for your listing and verify your open hours.
Last but not least, enter your website and social media profiles before reviewing and submitting to Apple. Once you have submitted your listing, you should receive an automatic email telling you it’s been received and should go live on Apple Maps within the week.
