New Google Analytics Course on Offer
Google has introduced a new “Academy” designed for marketing professionals that want to learn the “core principles” of analytics to improve business.
The three-week course is intended to provide a good foundation for marketers to work from, so that they can better understand how to apply findings in analytics to business performance.
The course is to include:
– Best practices for collecting data
– How to build a measurement plan
– An overview of the current digital landscape
– A look at key concepts and terminology
– An in-depth look at reports and how they can be used to measure performance
The course is open for registration now and is due to begin on 8th October this year. It’s recommended for beginner to intermediate users of Google Analytics who want to learn more and is separated into units so that learners can pick and choose what they need to know.
Units 1, 2 and 3 cover industry trends and what students will need to understand thoroughly before continuing the course, which consists of three more units which include videos, activities and lessons.
The 22 video lessons around between 3 to 10 minutes long and it’s thought that the entire course will take around 4-6 hours to complete, depending on how au fait the student is with analytics.
There will be live Hangouts taking place on October 15 and 22, which will give students the opportunity to ask questions of Analytics experts. These, as well as teaching assistants, will also be available for the duration of the course through the G+ community and forums.
Those that complete the course with a score of 80% or better will be able to get a certificate to prove they have taken the course. However, be warned that you will need to print this or save before October 30, when the course closes.
The good news is that the course contains a lot of the necessary material you need to earn the Google Analytics Individual Qualification (IQ), although you will still need to take the IQ test in order to earn the full, industry recognised qualification. There are also additional lessons that can be taken to prepare for the qualification.
The course is a great way for marketing professionals to improve their knowledge of Google Analytics via the people that count, Google experts themselves. Even disregarding the qualification, it’s an ideal opportunity to brush up on skills when going for a new job or simply improving marketing.
Course units are:
– A pre-course survey
– Unit 1 – overview
– Unit 2 – getting started with digital analytics
– Unit 3 – Understanding and using Google Analytics data
– Unit 4 – Collecting actionable data with Google Analytics
– Unit 5 – Navigating Google Analytics reports
– Unit 6 – Navigating Conversions reports
– Final assessment
Lessons are presented by Julian Cutroni, a “digital analytics advocate” and you can find an overview of what to expect from the course and an introduction from Julian on YouTube.
Perfect for carrying out in your spare time, the Google Analytics Academy course can be used on some mobile devices, but this is not guaranteed, so ensure that you have checked out the system requirements before signing up if you only access the net through your phone or tablet device.
